"We had every intention of bottling it [in 22-ounce bottles], but I felt that it was such a drinkable beer," says owner Chris McKim. The Buzz: A new Madison, Ohio, brewery featuring a 15-barrel system and 30-barrel fermenters and brites offers room to grow and the capacity to bottle six-packs. "The first beer going to market is our Rat Tail Ale," says partner Joel Sandrey of the American amber ale and brewery best-seller. "It is rich, full-bodied and malty." ratbrew.com

The Buzz: A new brew being released this month, Pumpkin Dead has a Halloween label and a taste for the Thanksgiving table. "It's definitely not hoppy," says head brewer Garin Wright. "We're trying to go with that pumpkin pie flavor. ... A lot of pumpkin ales aren't brewed with pumpkin. Our beer actually is." buckeyebrewing.com
