Scoring an autograph can sometimes be just as hard as catching a home run — you have to be in the right place at the right time. Indians first baseman Ryan Garko says to camp out along the left-field line right before a game for the maximum autograph opportunities — that’s where all the position players stretch and the bullpen guys hang out. “When I’m signing, I always try to get to the kids first. If someone has a sign about me or has a T-shirt with my name and number on it, I try to get to them, too,” he says. And if you do get face time with your favorite player, don’t do this: “One time a kid tried to get me to sign his forehead. I said, ‘I’m not going to sign your body with a permanent marker, your mom would kill me.’ ”
