The sound of music has been filling Blossom Music Center’s natural amphitheater ever since it was built by the Cleveland Orchestra in 1968. Working in partnership with the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the Blossom Music Festival commemorates the park service’s centennial July 17 with George Gershwin’s An American in Paris as well as works by Ravel and Aaron Copland. “Blossom is a unique jewel for Northeast Ohio,” says Carol Lee Iott, the orchestra’s director of strategy and special initiatives. “It’s a beautiful summer home for music lovers and nature lovers, and this program will have a great Americana flavor to celebrate the centennial.” Guest conductor Bramwell Tovey leads the Cleveland Orchestra in the patriotic program. In addition, park rangers display pelts and skulls from indigenous animals prior to the concert. 1145 Steels Corners Road, Cuyahoga Falls, 216-231-1111, clevelandorchestra.com
