It may be 100 years old, but the Cleveland Metroparks is as full of life as ever with hikers, cyclists, golfers and more enjoying its trails, beaches and golf courses. To commemorate the milestone, Edgewater Park hosts a free beach party July 22, complete with local bands, food trucks and an epic fireworks display choreographed to music reminiscent of the city’s Fourth of July celebrations, which once drew crowds of 200,000 to the park. “The entire park system will be celebrated that day,” says Metroparks CEO Brian Zimmerman. “The beauty of it is that the beach will be alive with a very robust celebration. The fireworks will be as good or better than those Fourth of July shows of the past.” Beyond that, the centennial celebration runs June 4-Sept. 10 with concerts featuring music from the past 100 years at the Huntington, Garfield Park, Bedford, Hinckley and North Chagrin reservations. 6500 Cleveland Memorial Shoreway, Cleveland, 216-635-3200, clevelandmetroparks.com
