There’s so much of 2017 we’d like to wash away. So we consulted Virginia Comignaghi, who’s leading a Jan. 7 Yoga Detox Flow workshop at Yoga Strong Studios in Canton, for a few poses to flush that bad mojo.
Breathe: Start with breath presses, taking in as much air as you can inhale and then forcefully exhaling through your nose until you have absolutely no air left. “That’s how you know you’re getting to that very bottom lobe of the lung,” she says.
Twist: Wring out toxins from internal organs with a lunge followed by turning your torso to the left and right over your legs, twisting farther as you exhale. You can also try this position seated. “The twists in yoga are really endless,” Comignaghi says.
Open: While still in a lunge, extend your spine and torso back over your pelvis. If your lower back permits, arch your back toward the ceiling. “This allows fresh blood and nutrients to come back into the system,” she says.
