Leaving Angelo’s Pizza with a towering stack of pies is a Lakewood tradition dating back to its 1981 opening. The pizzeria serves up memory-making classics, inventive takes or make-your-own pies with a mouthful’s worth of sauce and topping options.
While the pizza is versatile — everyone has a favorite, whether it’s a white pizza with buffalo mozzarella, a Veggie Delight or a Meat Lovers with sausage, bacon, pepperoni, ham and meatballs — few can argue with its comfort food chops.
“[Pizza is] something you can count on,” says manager Shawn Neitzel, who was a loyal customer before working at Angelo’s. “I looked forward to getting pizza every week. I think that it really helps bring a sense of normalcy.”
Try This: If you’re in the mood for a heartier ’za with a southern twist, the Acapulco BBQ pizza ($18.15-$28.45) is covered in a tangy barbecue sauce, chicken, provolone, pineapple, mild peppers, bacon and a hint of cinnamon.
