Nomz’s banh mi tacos were born out of ingenuity. From Nomz’s inception, the banh mi sandwich was a staple on its menu. When owner Samuel Lavictoire expanded Nomz’s kitchen, he decided to see if the recipe worked as a taco. And boy does it. While the char siu meat goes through the same preparation (it’s marinated for 12 hours and then cooked for an hour) as it would for a sandwich, it hits different in taco form. Not only does the taco shell serve as the perfect receptacle for soaking up all the juices from the meat, but it also allows for the toppings of pickled carrots, cucumber, jalapeno aioli, Vietnamese pate and daikon to blend together to form a perfect combination of sweet and savory. Whether you get one taco or three, you’ll find yourself licking your plate clean. “We try to do everything with as much care as possible,” Lavictoire says. “All of our ingredients are made in-house and that’s really evident with the vegetables.
