Light pours into the sun-drenched Thread boutique in Pinecrest, hitting racks of clothes, accessories, shoes and more that shimmer like they are in a spotlight, just asking you to stare. Workers bustle around the store as shoppers ooh and ahh over their latest fashion finds.
It’s a vibe that has been carefully curated at Cleveland’s first Thread boutique. “It’s very high-energy,” says store manager Cindy Rossetti. “But I want people to feel relaxed, like they’re being welcomed into my home.”
The third location of Thread opened in the Orange Village shopping center in December, mimicking its Columbus sister stores’ boho chic vibes — there’s a dandelion seed mural on one wall and a rustic sliding barn door on another, with driftwood from Lake Erie dangling from the ceiling. The store also keeps a limited stock on the most trendy items — you’ll only find one of each size for most pieces.
Racks are lined with hard-to-find labels from Paris, New York and Los Angeles (as well as the store’s own Thread brand), including floor-length boho dresses by Ba&sh ($695) juxtaposed with vegan leather moto jackets by Rebecca Minkoff. “We carry exclusive pieces so that you’re less likely to be at a party and someone walks in with your look. We hate that,” laughs Rossetti.
Tables and shelves hold shoes, accessories and more, such as trendy calf-hair sneakers by P448 ($280), one-of-a-kind horn and gemstone jewelry by Ashley Pittman and candles in gilded concrete holders ($24).
But the true beauty of the shop is that it’s always changing. The staff isn’t restocking items; it’s following fashion and highlighting the trends, says Rossetti. “We’re always trying to be on top of what’s current and on-trend and our staff has to be knowledgeable and speak to what the trends are.”
Mix and Match
Mixing patterns can be tricky. But assistant manager Sade Cole recommends using a connector piece with a common color or texture to ease the transition between your plaid, floral and striped clothes. “If you have one little thing — like a common color in your belt — that will pull it together,” says Cole.
Suit Up
Menswear is back, says Cole, especially styles with plaids, gingham and Prince of Wales checks. She suggests challenging yourself to pair them with something a little unexpected like leather or a silky camisole. “People are looking for redefined classic pieces that will live in your closet forever,” she says.
