This fourth generation-owned Mentor fish market is a treasure trove of underwater goodies. Owner John C. Young keeps Euclid Fish Co. stuffed to the gills with nearly daily deliveries of items such as buttery Maine lobster ($14.99 per pound) and mildly sweet and lean red snapper ($20 per pound). We’re swimming circles around the whole branzino ($11.99), a Mediterranean sea bass with delicate, flaky flesh. While the tender fish starts out rich tasting, it finishes with mild sweetness. But the real jewel (or pearl) at Euclid Fish Co. is its selection of oysters ($14.99 per dozen) such as the fatty, briney Cape May Salts from the New Jersey coast or Chesapeake Bay Skinny Dippers, which taste grassy and earthy. “Their job in life is to purify water,” Young says. “And our job in life is to eat those little buggers.” Use It At Home: Stuff a butterflied branzino with two lemon slices, thyme and a bay leaf. Rub the exterior with olive oil and grill for seven minutes per side. 7839 Enterprise Drive, Mentor, 440-951-6448, euclidfish.com
