It’s not quite a three-hour tour, but don’t be stranded at the dock when Roar Along the Shore storms back to Lake Erie’s waters. After a three-year hiatus, the nautical concert triumphantly returns Aug. 31 with six bands and 800 revelers packed on three decks of the Goodtime III. Christened in 2011 by interior designer Danielle DeBoe Harper, the end-of-summer bash was dry docked three years later when it conflicted with her hectic schedule as a new mom. “I’m thrilled to have it back on the water,” she says. “The boat, the views, the whole experience is a really rare Cleveland experience.” It begins with a 6 p.m. preparty at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and acoustic-pop trio Poro performing onshore prior to boarding. Thanks to a partnership with Justin Markert of Cellar Door Cleveland, the musical bounty continues onboard with Marcus Alan Ward, the Whiskey Hollow, the Goldmines, Herzog and a reunited Seafair, which has not performed together since early 2016. “They’re phenomenal and last time they played on the boat, it was one of the highlights of my three years producing it,” says DeBoe Harper. “It’s pretty exciting having them back together and playing once again at this party.”
