When Hamilton’s national tour lights its cannons in Cleveland, you could be in “The Room Where It Happens” — for a price. The Pulitzer Prize-winning account of Alexander Hamilton’s life sparked a revolution by ditching the stodgy musical format — blending traditional show tunes and hip-hop, and casting actors of color as the Founding Fathers to better reflect America’s cultural heritage.
Part of Playhouse Square’s KeyBank Broadway Series, the national tour made its own kind of history when the initial run of 60,000 tickets sold out in a matter of hours. But fear not, Hamil-Fans: Before you start feeling “Helpless,” prepare for Playhouse Square’s next act.
The organization will potentially release more tickets at a range of price points closer to the musical’s run. In addition, 37 $10 lottery seats will be available before every performance. Devotees of the 11-time Tony Award-winner can also try their luck on StubHub for steep upcharges — but hey, you gotta make it work (work). 1519 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, 216-771-8403, playhousesquare.com
