Loreto Greve was biking along the Veterans Memorial Bridge when she noticed a flock of birds circling buildings nearby. Struck by the contrast, the Chilean artist captured the pillowy clouds and abstract birds in flight against the rigid lines of the factory. “It’s a combination of the masculine and the feminine,” she says. As one of six international artists-in-residence for the Cleveland Foundation’s Creative Fusion initiative, Greve spent two months photographing the city for a Nov. 11-23 exhibition at the Cleveland Print Room. The show features the 34-year-old’s black-and-white photographs and lithographs as well as works by local photographers and printmakers. As part of her process, Greve used 35 mm film and developed her prints in a traditional darkroom. She hopes the romanticism of the format comes through in the images. “I want people to discover something different in the picture. Focus on the picture like a meditation,” she says. “It’s like magic.” 2550 Superior Ave., Cleveland, 216-802-9441, clevelandprintroom.com
