For many of us, grocery shopping is that chore we put off until our fridge is empty and we’re hungry. But the new Lucky’s Market on West 117th Street and Clifton Boulevard wants to make the shopping experience fun with plenty of natural food items and fresh produce. But we’re all about its handful of grab-and-go options that let us fill up our carts with easy, no-sweat meals. Here are three areas you’ll see us wheeling around.
The Cafe
Sure you can find coffee here — think Americanos and cappuccinos — but don’t overlook its beer and wine options. We’re all about the Sip and Stroll deal — $2 for a pint of beer or $3 for a glass of wine — that lets us enjoy options such as Great Lakes Brewing Co.’s raspberry white ale while aisle hopping. Beware: Drinking and shopping might lead to unnecessary purchases like bacon jam.
Ramen & Sushi
If you’re fans of Heinen’s $5 Wednesday sushi, get a jump start with Lucky’s version on Tuesday. Lucky for you, there’s also build-your-own ramen to complement your deal. Choose from one of six proteins (including fried tofu and beef sukiyaki) and pick your toppings and broth to complete your creation. But if you’d rather stick with tradition, order the popular classic tonkotsu ramen with char siu pork.
Pizza
Forget delivery. For fresh-from-the-oven pizza, just wander over to the kitchen area to build a customized 16-inch pie starting at $9.99. All pizzas begin with a tangy Sicilian tomato sauce and shredded mozzarella. Then layer on additional toppings for 50 cents each such as crumbled feta, goat cheese and artichoke hearts. For an extra $1, splurge on Lucky’s smoked ham or smoked bacon.
