The perfect date: I love to eat, so it would probably involve a good meal, and I guess ideally someplace where we could visit and have a nice time.
Something most people don't know about me: Before my law days I was an athlete in high school and college. I was an all-American athlete in track and field.
My passion: I spend a lot of time with my family. I was born and raised in a small town between Burton and Chardon, East Claridon, out in Geauga county, heart of the snow belt, went to Hawken for middle and high school.
Biggest turn-on: Modesty, punctuality and somebody that doesn't take themselves too serious. She's OK with laughing at herself when appropriate.
Biggest turnoff: Materialism and tardiness
I own too many: Cars. I have two, but two is too many for me.
... place in Cleveland: Squaw Rock in the [South Chagrin] Metroparks. You have to go in the summertime. It is really incredible. It's basically a path that walks along the top ridge of a gorge. And if you want, you walk down the steps down the side of this cliff, and it'll take you down to the river that runs in the middle, and what I'll do sometimes is just put on a pair of old shoes, and walk upstream, and you actually walk through the river. You ultimately get to a huge waterfall. It's really beautiful.
My usual hangout: I'm definitely a homebody. More days than not I'll go to the gym. ... On the weekends I like to go to my parents' house out in the country.
In high school I was ... the jock. But maybe not the stereotypical jock. I was very serious about academics. I went to Hawkins, and they were real serious about academics. So I wasn't the stereotypical jock that stayed on the football field. My dad always stressed that you have to be a student athlete.
And now I'm ... I'm getting into an old-man adult routine of waking up and going to work, going to the gym, going home, eating and going to bed.
My best feature: My height or my hands. I have big hands that aren't really weathered, and they're strong but they're still soft.
My bad habit: I'm an impatient person. That's something I've been working on. I don't like standing around wasting time.
My first kiss: I was on a school bus coming home from the eighth grade trip to Cedar Point, and my girlfriend of five months finally got frustrated with me being shy and planted one on me.
My guilty pleasure: Those trashy TV shows, like Real Housewives of Atlanta, or watching Gordon Ramsey yell at those chefs and throw food at them. I love that when he throws food at people.
How my ex would describe me: A really great guy for somebody else
Going out or staying in: That is really dependent on the season. In the summer I enjoy going out a lot more than this time of year. For the most part, staying in.
Early, late or right on time: Right on time
Dogs or cats: I like both. I have a cat. I would have a dog, but my travel schedule and my workday wouldn't allow me to have a happy dog.
Dancing ... yes or no?: No

My longest relationship: Five years
Beer, wine or martinis: White wine and then move to beer
Roses or chocolates: Chocolates are a little bit too unpredictable. You never really know what you're giving them. If the first bite is something that they don't like, that's a bad first impression of the gift.
My No. 1 dating rule: There are no rules. You just do what makes sense and what feels right.
My deal-breaker: Smoking, lying
I hate when a date ... is late or takes really long to get ready. I hate when a date forgets or chooses not to say "thank you."
But I love when a date ... doesn't just talk about herself all the time, but also doesn't just want to talk about me or ask me a bunch of questions the whole time. I like to ask the questions. Maybe that's the lawyer in me. I like to observe more than talk.
Worst pickup line: Some girl used a pickup line on me that was really terrible. It was this week; I just don't remember what it was.
If I could date anyone: A modest, low-key version of Kim Kardashian or Halle Berry
On a first date I never ... expect too much.
Best place to meet someone: That's a tough question. It really is, especially here in Cleveland.
Most unusual place I've met someone: I was flying to Europe, and this woman kept walking past my seat, and it was obvious she was trying to make eye contact every time she walked past, so finally I said hi to her, and we ended up switching seats and talking the whole way to Europe. She went her way, and I went mine, but we did meet up after that.
