The Cleveland Foundation figured it out long ago: It truly is better to give than receive. Founded in 1914 by banker and lawyer Frederick H. Goff, the community trust he envisioned has granted $1.7 billion to community organizations over the past century. So to mark its 100th anniversary, the Cleveland Foundation is celebrating with presents galore — an entire year of gifts to the community. We take a look at the numbers behind the Cleveland Foundation Days, which are announced at the beginning of each month and have provided goodies such as free RTA rides in January, tickets to the Cleveland International Film Festival in March and free admission to the University Circle museums in May.
