While Railroad Brewing Co. is still one of the area's newer breweries, it still holds onto a homegrown rustic charm. Modeled after laid-back Colorado Springs breweries, this Avon hangout takes shape in a former barn with a reclaimed loft ceiling that was repurposed into Ohio-railroad themed tables.
Crafted in a 10-barrel system, brews such as the Choco ($5.50 for 16 ounces), a slightly bitter and malt forward blonde ale with the addition of chocolate that has a creamy, decadent dessert flavor, uses America pale malt, white wheat, Munich Light and honey malt grains to get its flavor.
“We really try to be a neighborhood brewery," says president and co-owner Tom Wagner. "We try to make drinkable beers that go across a wide range of flavors and tastes that everyone can enjoy. We’re always trying to mix it up and we’re changing all of the time."
Our Pick: Named after a local fallen soldier, the 13th Warrior ($5.50 for 16 ounces) holds its own as a light German-style hefeweizen. 1010 Center Road, Avon, 440-723-8234, railroadbrewingcompany.com
