I like getting out, so I’m not stuck in the office all day. I travel around the area a lot, going to different business and events. I always have an ear open anywhere, just in case I can help.
Everyone has a story on how they started their business, and I enjoy helping them make their financial dreams a reality. There is a rewarding feeling you get, helping a small business owner expand and create new jobs. It not only benefits them, but impacts their family, friends and more importantly, the community.
I have kids and I know a lot of the parents, especially with sports teams — basketball primarily. We meet up, we’re all involved and we all chip in. Games are every Sunday at Mentor High School. The home side of the Mentor stands are always full. This year our middle son — he’s 10 years old — his team won the championship.
Last year, they made it to the championship but lost. It’s one of those things they’re never going to forget. I still remember those times when we won championships, even the crushing defeats.
For them to turn it around and win this year was huge. Not only for him and for us, but for all of the families who were a part of the team — that’s memorable. The parents were more excited than the kids.
