The mysterious world of Steven Spielberg’s E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial takes over the forest-surrounded Blossom Music Center Sept. 1-3. As a nod to our favorite alien encounter, the Cleveland Orchestra performs John Williams’ spectacular sounds, which were so moving that it compelled Spielberg to re-edit the last 15 minutes of his film. “In the last 15 minutes, you go from fast-action music to this lyrical, tender music and then a celebratory, majestic fanfare to cap off the movie,” says conductor Brett Mitchell. “He captures the emotion of every single scene.” When the movie and music end, live fireworks fill the sky to top off the immersive showing of this 35-year-old, bike-flying, moonlit masterpiece. 1145 W.
