On a scale of one to 10, the complexity of David Chippi's culinary creations fall somewhere between two and three. But that's not to say the Avon Lake resident and entrepreneur isn't doling out a big dish of cooking knowledge to clueless men.
The North Olmsted native's new "Bachelor Cooking For Men Only" DVD teaches struggling bachelors how to whip up seven meals ranging from such game-time grub as "Better Than Bar Nachos" to date-night-worthy dishes such as pan-seared tuna.
"I wanted to put something in there that sounded higher level but was really easy, like pan-seared tuna with asparagus," Chippi explains. "It sounds like something you'd buy in a restaurant. But when you see it in real life, it's really simple to make."
But this isn't big-budget, Food Network fare. Not yet, at least. Chippi shot the instructional video in his own kitchen with three cameras and two college buddies, who dole out running commentary on Chippi's creations between swigs of beer. "I wanted to do something that was a little raw and more reality driven," Chippi says. "And when people cook, they sit around the kitchen and they drink cocktails."
The result is an 80-minute video that deserves a spot in every fraternity house and bachelor pad in the United States or anywhere else where microwave-dependent men cower in fear of the kitchen.
