The perfect date: A romantic candlelight dinner and a good bottle of wine
Something most people don’t know about me: I have a horrible sense of direction. I am heavily reliant on my GPS.
My cell phone: BlackBerry, it’s black. I’m always using Google maps and looking up phone numbers and addresses.
Biggest turn-on: Confidence, but not to the point of being overly cocky.
Biggest turnoff: If they spend the whole night talking about themselves and don’t ask me questions. The rationale behind that is I don’t feel like they’re getting to know me. It’s more about them selling themselves to me instead of getting to know me.
I own too many: Shoes. Specifically sandals. I basically can’t get enough pairs of black strappy sandals.
My favorite … place in Cleveland: Lake Erie. I just like to sit by the water. I live close to Edgewater, and I usually walk down there. … sports team: The Browns. Out of all the different sports, football is the one I grew up watching with my father. Football was the sport that I paid attention to and enjoyed throughout my childhood. I have season tickets. I’ve had them since the new stadium opened. … book: I just don’t really have one specific favorite book. I like women’s fiction. … vacation destination: Las Vegas. I try to go at least once a year. I stay all over. I’ve never stayed at the same place twice. My best friend got married in Vegas at a wedding chapel. I was a maid of honor, and I walked down the aisle with Elvis. … dessert: Chocolate. I would say homemade Nestle Toll House chocolate chip cookies.
Facebook: yes or no? I’ve had it for a year. I have reconnected with a lot of people. I use it just for keeping in touch with friends and seeing what everyone’s doing.
My usual hangout: I would say Crocker Park. I have friends and family in the area.
In high school I was … an honors student but middle of the road in popularity. I wasn’t a geek but wasn’t in the popular group.
My passion: Honestly, it would be spoiling my two nieces and nephew. There’s two more on the way in the next two months. I buy them anything from the Ohio State game day attire to anything princess.
My best feature: I would say smile.
My bad habit: A tie between my addiction to Diet Pepsi and being an overall procrastinator. I have been addicted from childhood to adulthood. I don’t drink coffee, so it’s my caffeine source.
My first kiss: 10th grade. I remember an awkward hitting of the teeth, but then all the kinks got worked out. He became my first boyfriend.
My guilty pleasure: Shopping and watching reality TV. I still watch The Bachelor and The Bachelorette and The Hills on MTV.
How my ex would describe me: I would think they would say I’m a good person, and it didn’t work out.
Blonds or brunets: Blonds
Going out or staying in: It depends on my mood but probably going out.
Early, late or right on time: Right on time
My longest relationship: A few years
Dogs or cats: Dogs. I never had a pet growing up, but as an adult I like dogs. Cats just aren’t my thing. I like the friendliness of dogs. You can cuddle up with a dog and walk a dog, and it gets you outside.
Beer, wine or martinis: Red wine. My favorite is merlot.
Roses or chocolates: Red roses
My No. 1 dating rule: I don’t want to be asked on a date via text message. There’s a time and place for texting, but not to ask me out on a date.
My deal-breaker: Smoking. It’s unhealthy and an unnecessary health risk. And it’s just disgusting.
I hate when a date orders … something that’s really fishy smelling.
Worst pickup line: There’s been so many.
If I could marry anyone: Mathew McConaughey. I just think he’s gorgeous. He has a cute personality.
On a first date I never ... kiss. You’re not in that place yet after a first date. It gets more appropriate the second and third dates.
Best place to meet someone: I’m still trying to figure that out. Seriously, I don’t know; that’s a good question.
Most unusual place I’ve met someone: I’ve been on some interesting setups with friends. There was one where after I met him, he called me the next day to understand my position on having more kids because he has children. That was the end of that. I had just met him less than 24 hours ago.
My take on Cleveland’s single scene: It’s not good. I think in this environment you have to be creative and potentially leverage match.com. Historically, I have met some nice people from Match. In the city there aren’t a lot of places to go. People tend to go out in groups, and there’s not a lot of places to go where there’s mingling interaction at our age level. I think there are good single men out there, but to find them it’s almost like you have to find them through friends of friends and to get involved in organizations to meet people.
