He molds the way you experience the city. And while Greg Peckham doesn’t create the works you see as you travel through Cleveland, he’s the one responsible for commissioning the thought-provoking public art that fills it. And there’s more to come. Peckham, who started as Cleveland Public Art’s project manager for the Euclid Corridor Transportation Project’s public art master plan, took over as executive director of Cleveland Public Art in 2005. He’s carried through his vision of integrating art into the transportation project’s infrastructure, while gearing up for new public art additions. Be on the lookout this spring for new art at Mall B downtown. As far as big-picture initiatives, Peckham is most proud of Cleveland Public Art’s involvement in Building Cleveland by Design — a campaign that intends to make the Flats a national model of sustainable urbanism by 2019, the 50th anniversary of the last Cuyahoga River fire.
