One thing is certain about Ingenuity Cleveland: it’s full of surprises. The organization’s IngenuityFest — aptly titled Ingenuity at the Lake — is making its debut at Gordon Park for its 16th annual celebration of Cleveland’s arts and music scene. Here are three things to know about the mind-blowing event.
There will be plenty to do
This year’s event — running from Sept. 24 through Sept. 26 — will feature immersive artwork, a plethora of local artists, a multitude of stages with different performers and musicians, theatrical acts, vendors, games and a children’s area. “This is the perfect year for us to step outside of our four walls in the St. Clair neighborhood,” says executive artistic director Emily Appelbaum.
The lake is a main theme
Almost all of the exhibits at the event will highlight the ideas of lakefront access, sustainability and connectivity, with Ingenuity Cleveland hosting a “community idea board” for attendees to write down their ideas for the future of lakefront development. “We’re hoping to use this event to bring some attention to what’s going on in the city,” says Appelbaum.
It will elevate local organizations
The open-air event will include community stage performances and local food trucks while paying special focus to neighborhood organizations and initiatives. “This is a unique time to be working in events, entrepreneurship and community engagement,” says Appelbaum. “It’s an opportunity for people to share their work, curiosity and hopes for building the strongest possible future.”
