J.D. Corr
Location: Quicken Loans Arena
Corr moved home to Cleveland in August after two years working in Los Angeles. He bought Cavs season tickets this year — which also earned him a photo op with the trophy. With no pose planned, he went the NBA Jam route. “Everyone’s usually serious around the trophy,” he says. “It’s a ball going into a hoop, so I’ll make it look like I’m dunking it.”
Jeremiah Widmer
Location: Cleveland’s Star 102 studio
Every Thursday, the Cleveland Star 102 host posts a photo of himself and his kids, Carlie and Eli, wearing headbands. So it only seemed right to don the headwear (even though it was a Wednesday). “A: It’s the cutest thing ever,” Widmer says. “And B: How many kids are going to be able to say they got a selfie with the Larry O’Brien trophy — rockin’ some headbands?”
Michelle Sustar
Location: Crain’s Cleveland Business
Sustar had been jonesing for a chance to get her picture with the trophy since she witnessed the Cavs’ Game 7 win June 19. But after finding out she wasn’t allowed to touch it, she went with the moment. “It just felt right to kind of want to do the kiss toward it,” she says. “It was kind of like meeting a celebrity.”
Rafael Hernández-Brito
Location: Barroco Grill
When Cavs’ bilingual play-by-play announcer Hernández-Brito sees Avery Banks — the son of a co-worker — the two greet with a dab, a popular dance move athletes such as LeBron James regularly bust out. “I’ll go watch [Banks] play baseball and when he’ll get a hit, he’s dabbing,” Hernández-Brito says. “So it just felt appropriate to dab with Larry O’Brien.”
