Gary Barnidge, 29
Tight end, Cleveland Browns
Hidden talent: I like to write music. I'm trying to learn to play the piano and guitar to put my lyrics to music.
Biggest fear: Losing a family member.
Bad habit: Biting my nails.
Guilty pleasure: Movies. My favorite movies are horror movies but I love all types. I own over 2,500 movies.
You'd never guess: I write music, just lyrics.
I can't live without: Family. I try to be close to all my family members. All my mom's family lives in Kentucky. I have a lot of little cousins I call my daughters. My dad's family lives in Mississippi. So I travel between the two to try and see all my family at least once a year.
My hero: My grandfather, Gary. I'm named after him. He and my two parents have been my influence through everything.
On my bucket list: Visit Egypt. I am fascinated with the history of Egypt and wanted to be an archaeologist when I was growing up and still want to be one. My bedroom is Egyptian themed.
Biggest accomplishment: Graduating college and making my family proud.
When I'm not working: I love movies and traveling. There is a house that we rent [in the Bahamas] and stay for the week and just relax.
Find me here on a Saturday night: Probably traveling with my nonprofit or traveling the world. My nonprofit is called American Football Without Barriers. We go to other countries and do a football camp for kids and visit orphanages and give away clothes and food and just spend time with the kids. Our overall goal is to get kids in other countries scholarships for football here in the states.
If I had one wish: Just happiness for all my family and friends.
Once-in-a-lifetime moment: Bringing kids over from China and getting one of them a college scholarship [to play football]. Two years ago he got a DII scholarship, but he turned it down to go to Stanford for schooling.
If I won the Mega Millions, I would spend it on: I would invest, save and travel.
My No. 1 dating rule: I don't drink alcohol.
Deal-breakers: Being dishonest.
Perfect date: Find a restaurant that neither of us has been to and try the new place out. After eating, we could go to a museum and check out the exhibits or catch a movie or walk around the city or go to a play or show. Then follow it off with getting dessert somewhere. It is just finding a happy medium that both like to do because both have to enjoy the date for it to be a good date.
I'm a sucker for: Somebody who can take a joke and is funny.
The most romantic thing I've ever done: A whole day. We did the sunrise, then I had breakfast planned. We went and did a little walk, a picnic for lunch. Then we went and looked at the stars and had a dessert set up outside. All in Florida, the beaches outside Jacksonville.
What you most look for in a significant other: Fun to be around. Funny. Takes a joke. Understand schedules.
I always, sometimes or never make the first move: Sometimes.
Would you like to be famous?: I'm content with who I am right now.
Do you rehearse what you're going to say before making a phone call?: No.
Last time I sang to myself: Probably every time I'm in the car. Last time I sang to someone else: I don't think I've ever sung to anyone because I can't sing.
If I could gain one quality or ability, it would be: To fly.
I wish I had someone with whom I could share ... : Everything.
Celebrity dream date: Jennifer Lawrence. She just seems very down to earth and would be easy to get along with.
Celebrity look-alike: I've been told Jim Carrey. I'll take it as a compliment. But mostly, I've been told James Lafferty, who plays Nathan on One Tree Hill.
Dogs or cats: Dogs.
Beach or mountains: Both.
Signature dish: My mother's beef stroganoff.
How I stay healthy: I don't have a way, just stay in shape working out.
My favorite ... book: Stephen King's It. The story is very engrossing and some of his best work. ... TV show: Smallville. I loved seeing a story of the struggles of Superman growing up, learning all his powers and just seeing more brought into the story of one of the most powerful men in the superhero world. ... movie: Forrest Gump. Favorite horror movie: Night of the Living Dead. ... music: R&B. You would never guess that though, because everyone tells me they would think that I listen to country or rock or alternative. ... restaurant: Around here, probably Shinto. I love hibachi grills. ... app: My Movies. It catalogs all your movies for you in alphabetical order. Anything you own, you scan the bar code and it catalogs everything. You can see everything you have.
What I'm reading now: I just bought all of Stephen King's novels, because I want to read his books.
IPod embarrassment: I have a playlist called "Why do I have these songs?" It's got literally everything that you could think, Why would I have it? It's got Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Aqua, Chumbawamba.
I'm so over ... : All the drama media puts out about celebrities, how they blow everything up.
Dream job: I'm doing it. Also my nonprofit, making it bigger.
Dream vacation: Egypt. I want to see the pyramids. Also the Maldives.
My take on Cleveland's singles scene: It's a fun time to be out.
Are you on Tinder: No.
Best thing about being single: Freedom to do what I want.
Worst thing about being single: You don't have anyone to talk to and hang out with on a regular occasion.
Best date I've been on: We went and got food early in the day. Then went and played a little mini golf and laser tag — haven't done that in a long time — followed by a little four wheeling and a late dinner and dessert. Then watched a movie for the nightcap.
Worst date I've been on: Blind date. Just didn't work. Never had done that, never will again. I like to know the person a little.
I hope to settle down in the next five years: If it happens. I don't want it forced or rushed. It has to happen naturally.
