Thank goodness Shaquille O’Neal was in the mood for lasagna. If he hadn’t asked Lago owner Fabio Salerno to whip him up the iconic Italian dish last fall, and if he hadn’t Tweeted that he found it “off da chain,” they may never have added it to the menu. “It wasn’t something we served. We sort of scrambled around and put it together for him,” recalls executive chef Josh Hartranft. “He’s come back in for it two or three times, too.” Made from Salerno’s old family recipe, the oversized lasagna ($19) is served on a pool of rich tomato-and-meat sauce and topped with sheets of melted mozzarella. Basil leaves add a subtle sweetness to the layers of pasta and creamy ricotta cheese. It’s a dish that makes us thankful for social media. 2221 Professor Ave., Cleveland, 216-344-0547, lagotremont.com
