For his 12th birthday, William's parents and his grandmother took the Litchfield Middle School sixth-grader to Olive Garden along with his cousins, who once lost to William in a milkshake-drinking contest. When he's not texting with his friends on apps Kik and Tango, he's building his future out of Legos in his Akron bedroom.
I want to be an architect, because when I build Legos, I picture what I want to build in my mind. I already know what pieces to use or how I'm going to build it. It's like I can picture everything that needs to be done. I told my grandma a while ago that I wanted to be the first person to invent a floating car. I want to invent a car that doesn't run on gasoline. It could run on air or a renewable resource, because it'll be better for the environment. You could take it anywhere. I want it to be able to go underwater and into space. I want it to be able to do anything.
I play video games and read comic books. Deadpool is my favorite character because he's not afraid to speak his mind. He talks a lot and gets on people's nerves a lot, but he's hilarious. It's very important to speak your mind. All that stuff could get bottled up inside, and you might have something really important to say and no one will ever know.
My dad is looking for a job right now. He said he had a few jobs before he went to jail. I never got the chance to ask him the reason he went to jail. Someday I want to ask him. It makes me feel kind of not complete when I don't know why he did something so bad that he had to go to jail for it. He was gone for about three years.
When I lied to my dad that really tore me up, because after that one lie he couldn't trust me. I got my stuff taken away like my Xbox controllers, my phone and my iPod. I never wanted to do anything like that again. I had some doughnuts and I asked him for some ice cream. He said, "William, didn't you just have doughnuts?" I said, "No." Then he said, "I just saw you throw the cup away." That's how I got caught in the lie. After I told that one little lie, everything went down. It made me feel really bad, because I couldn't talk to him how I used to. He took my stuff away. After a couple of weeks, he said, "William, I'm going to give you one more chance, and if you lie to me again, then we're done. I won't trust you at all."
