Top Dog
Cleveland chefs aren't the only ones who know the blueprint to a scrumptious meal. Give us the tools, and we'll build a tasty testament to our city's thriving culinary scene at Happy Dog. The hipster hot dog shop offers us full creative freedom in how we top our dogs ($6) with 50 toppings — think house-made chorizo chili, SpaghettiOs and Froot Loops. "We wanted something simple, yet nostalgic and Americana," says chef and co-owner Eric Williams. "And we didn't want to do the plain old hot dog." Grab an order sheet and check off the ingredients you'd like the kitchen to use on your all-beef or vegan dog. Whether you go with all 50 toppings (at least one person a week gives it a shot) or keep it simple (we recommend sticking with three to five), you're going to need to fork-and-knife your way through this gut-busting meal. "Customers get to choose based off their tastes," he says. "That's what makes it fun for everyone." 5801 Detroit Ave., Cleveland, 216-651-9474; 11625 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, 216-231-5400, happydogcleveland.com
