If you've ever seen the blue markings on trees in Northeast Ohio's various park systems, you may not have realized you were hiking part of a trail that stretches 1,444 miles and connects the four corners of Ohio. You can learn more about the aptly named footpath during Buckeye TrailFest in Kirtland April 25-28. Held at Red Oak Camp, the second-annual event promises activities as varied as the temperature this time of year. Here were a few that caught our attention.
NIGHT HIKE AT PENITENTIARY GLEN | April 26, 9 p.m.
A full moon will light your way. Listen closely for the owls.
MAKING A SODA CAN STOVE | April 25, 2 p.m.
Serious backpackers will benefit most from this primer on making a functional stove on the go.
TASTE OF THE GRAPES | April 26, 10:30 a.m.
