Ever since its first note debuted in 1995, one earworm has consumed us: the I-X Indoor Amusement Park jingle. Now that the I-X Center, which opened in 1985, has permanently closed due to the pandemic, we’re nostalgic for some of the events that brought more than two million visitors annually to the space that was originally built in 1942 as the Cleveland Bomber Plant. From the sound of joyful kids riding the amusement park Ferris wheel that poked out above the space’s roof, to the sight of hopeful home DIYers at the Great Big Home & Garden Show or the wide-eyed car lovers at the Cleveland Auto Show, what we’ll miss most is the hive of life that came with each event.
