Nancy Binzel jokes that her company's slogan should be, "We send home tired dogs."
But the owner and self-proclaimed Alpha Dog behind Double Dog Day Care doesn't just operate a place for your pooch to hang out while you toil away at the office. The Stow business also bills itself as an indoor dog park — what Binzel describes as the first of its kind in the region — meaning you're welcome to play with your dog inside the 2,800-square-foot facility during its stay.
"It's always the smaller dogs that rule the roost around here," Binzel says, pointing to a Boston terrier named Vader, who isn't afraid to go nose-to-nose with the big dogs.
Each visiting canine undergoes a temperament evaluation to see how well it interacts with other dogs and people. Once they pass, they're free to enjoy the weave poles, seesaws, tunnel and other obstacles throughout the space.
Binzel doesn't offer overnight boarding but hopes to ultimately provide in-home care, grooming and training.
In the meantime, just know you have somewhere to play with your best friend if a last gasp of winter slush hits us this month.
