After a 13-year career in the NFL, Philadelphia Eagles center and Cleveland Heights native Jason Kelce told teammates he was retiring following the team’s loss in the Wild Card round of the playoffs on Monday night to the Tampa Bay Bucs, according to multiple reports.
Kelce, 36, spent all 13 years of his career with the Eagles, starting every game in 11 of those seasons. Throughout his career, Kelce has been selected as a First Team All-Pro six times and to the Pro Bowl seven times.
He was on seven Eagles teams that made the playoffs, winning Super Bowl LII against the New England Patriots to conclude the 2017 season. He reached another Super Bowl, losing last February’s game against his brother Travis and the Kansas City Chiefs. That Super Bowl was the first one to feature a pair of brothers playing against each other.
After that loss, Kelce considered retirement but signed a one-year contract with the Eagles for this season.
Kelce graduated from Cleveland Heights High School in 2006 before playing his college football at the University of Cincinnati.
