Nile and Six Feet Under at the Agora
The two veteran metal acts perform tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Agora. Nile formed in 1993 in South Carolina. At the time, the term technical death metal wasn't bandied about, but it has come to describe the group's music. LILIEAE's Lydia Puccini and Kayleigh Hyland took an art class together when they attended Westlake High School several years ago. At the time, they had no idea that they’d wind up a band together. A mutual acquaintance made that happen and brought them together to form LILIEAE, which plays a mix of hard rock and '90s-style alternative rock. The funny stuff continues tonight with Tom Papa, the fun-loving guy who used to host the NBC comedy show Marriage Ref. Papa routinely likes to joke about how he misses the day when he didn't have kids or the responsibility that accompanies them. But the guy will also switch gears and talk about antidepressants and societal pressures. His talent lies in the fact that he comes off as an Average Joe. Guster at the Agora
Inspired by Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, this veteran rock act brings its variation on the concept to the Agora as part of a extensive tour. The show will touch upon the band's 30-year history with skits. A narrator documents how the group formed in 1991 after members met at Tufts University and began playing what they call "dorm rock" with acoustic guitars and bongos. Out of the Picture at the Cinematheque
At 1 p.m., the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque will host the Cleveland premiere of this feature-length documentary about U.S. art critics. Directed by Mary Louise Schumacher, a longtime critic for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the movie follows a handful of writers who practice arts criticism.
