Kennedy Health & Fitness
Now in his second and larger facility in North Ridgeville, Personal Trainer Caleb Kennedy sees more expansion on the way due to a growing demand for tailored exercise programs that center on fundamentals to grow strength and empower clients to live their best lives.
“We support what you do every day by helping you bulletproof yourself against future injury and just making life easier in general,” says Kennedy, who customizes plans based on clients’ personal goals.
Kennedy’s background is athletic training for college teams, and he has since shifted to preventive maintenance.
“We help busy adults ages 25 and older who are intimidated by the typical gym or simply don’t have time, and together we design a structured fitness program to create lasting habits,” Kennedy says.

Dayton Freight
Access to the turnpike and highways, land with room to grow and a business-friendly environment drew Dayton Freight to its new North Ridgeville facility in April. The privately owned less-than-truckload (LTL) freight carrier tripled its capacity, going from 54 loading dock doors in its previous facility in a different community to 118 doors and a property more central to its customer base, says Barry McCoy, service center manager.
There are about 150 employees in the North Ridgeville truck terminal, and McCoy says the company hired 16 during its first four months in the city. “We ship coast to coast, with the help of our partners, and about 80% of our deliveries are next day,” he says, explaining that LTL is the “next level” of shipping beyond the post office, FedEx or UPS. “We’ll pick up one or two skids of product,” he says.
“It’s a growing market with a lot of competition,” he says, adding that job opportunities await in North Ridgeville.

Lorain County Health & Dentistry
For 23 years, Lorain County Health & Dentistry has provided accessible care as a community health center, driven by a mission to serve. It is one of the largest safety net providers of primary and preventive care for patients of all ages, especially focusing on those who might not otherwise receive services because of socioeconomic barriers.
The center opened a location in North Ridgeville and offers family medicine, dentistry, dental hygiene and integrated behavioral health. Once fully staffed, President and CEO Stephanie Wiersma expects the location to see up to 5,000 patients annually.
“Patients who come to see us trust us,” she says. “They get excellent care and are treated with compassion and respect.”
Wiersma founded the center in 2002 and is passionate about the difference it makes in so many lives, evident by statistical outcomes and patients sharing their feelings about the care. She says, “The most rewarding thing is knowing we have made an impact on the broader community for all these years.”

Culver’s
Culver’s is known for its fresh, never-frozen ButterBurger, seared and served on a toasted bun. You can stack it all the way up to a triple, pick your favorite toppings, pair it with a side and call it a satisfying meal. Aside from a menu that has grown a following across the nation (there are currently 990 locations), Tammy Lehar says the Culver’s culture is what makes every visit memorable.
“It’s the hospitality, quality and restaurant experience,” she says. “We make sure that every guest leaves happy.”
The Lehars also are partnered with the Canton location and own the Strongsville and Avon locations and noticed guests from across the counties were traveling to the restaurant. North Ridgeville presented an ideal spot for Culver’s.
“We don’t just sell burgers — we care about the community,” Lehar says of their involvement in the chamber and with the schools, including hosting dine-to-donate initiatives. “We take great pride in our people and providing jobs and opportunities.”

Ridge Barbershop
The client roster for barbers Travis Hobbs and Tom Starr includes Cleveland Browns players like defensive tackle Maurice Hurst II and Cavaliers names like Sam Merrill and Max Strus.
The owners of full-service Ridge Barbershop describe their shop as traditional “with a modern edge.”
“We offer everything under the sun of barbering, from shaves to hair designs,” says Hobbs, relating that months into opening the location, they hired an eighth barber.
Hobbs has competed in “barber battles” across the country, bringing home national awards for his styling and designs. Both Hobbs and Starr have children in North Ridgeville schools and are committed not only to enhancing clients’ style but enriching the community. They share a passion for service.
“We are dedicated to using our talents to empower and uplift others,” Starr says.
The shop is open seven days a week, and Hobbs and Starr encourage anyone to stop in — everyone makes the cut.
