MOCA Cleveland’s Winter/Spring Exhibitions Opening Night

Misery
Rescued from a car crash by his No. 1 fan, a bedridden romance novelist must outfox his nurse-turned-captor to stand any chance at a happy ending. Based on the horrifying novel by Stephen King, this play works from a script by William Goldman, the screenwriter who also wrote the 1990 film version. This Midwest premiere also marks the return of legendary Cleveland stage actor Andrew May as the terrorized author. The amped-up event is making a pit stop at Quicken Loans Area Feb. 17 and 18, when 12,000-pound trucks such as Grave Digger, Wonder Woman and Blue Thunder will battle it out in the arena. Fresh off a 2018 Grammy win for the inescapable earworm “Feel It Still,” experimental rock veterans Portugal. The Man hit the Cleveland Public Auditorium Feb. 18 for a show presented by the Grog Shop and AEG Live. Dabbling in everything from psychedelic rock to classic soul, the Alaska natives will roll into Cleveland with garage-punk opener Twin Peaks. “Feel It Still” has become the group’s highest charting single in the United States, reaching No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 40.
