Mike Roberts is a true hero of mine. His writing and experience in Cleveland journalism is a holy grail for me. He really hit it head-on with the lake ("Lame Plan," May 2011). On a drive with my dad to college in Milwaukee in 1970, we drove up the Chicago lakefront and then the Milwaukee lakefront. I was stunned. These towns had beautiful, fabulous, accessible lakes. I almost became bitter. Cleveland's lake was ore boats and power plants. It made me feel so angry. It was good to see my emotions in print.

I just finished The Paris Wife ("Knowing Ernest," May 2011) two days ago, and it was magnificent. I must admit, I too would get frustrated with Hadley's passive ways, but there was a quiet strength about her as well.

We've traveled to Deagan's ("The Best New Restaurant," May 2011) three times already from Rochester, N.Y. The connection? Chef Demetrios Atheneos is our daughter's boyfriend. Lucky us! The food is phenomenal, and the atmosphere is exactly what everyone is looking for.

I have been back to Banana Blossom ("Blooming Good," May 2011) a number of times. The food is fresh and crisp. The soups are amazing. The entrees are served with care and beautiful presentation. You'll want to eat the garnish, which is beautiful. I am getting hungry. I'll be back to Banana Blossom soon.
