Why she's interesting: Guido is the artist behind the colorful paper installations such as "I fall in love with most people in and around this place" hanging outside Ohio City's Phoenix Coffee Co. and other spots throughout Cleveland. Her paper and glue pieces, which feature uplifting and sometimes sarcastic daily thoughts, were showcased on the popular Design Sponge blog in 2014. Art History: Although she was artistic as a child, Guido decided to major in cognitive science at Indiana University. That is until she realized she was spending most of her time working on assignments for an elective art class. She eventually switched her major to printmaking. "I would try to get my [cognitive science] papers done super-fast so I could get working on my art stuff."
Stick Up: Half of Guido's attic in her Ohio City duplex is covered with paper, the beginnings of several little projects. Looking closely, you'll find Post-its with stray nuggets and thoughts. "I write those little tidbits about random people and people I know. I like writing those things down because then you have this little memory of what you were feeling about someone or something that day."
Design on the go: Guido and her Land Studio co-worker Joe Lanzilotta created a participatory project called Design Legs. With help from Rust Belt Welding and Play-Haus Design, the duo transformed a double bike into a mobile art center, complete with chalk, paper, scissors, paints and more. "I like those kind of projects that give people a surprise and then helps them be creative in different environments. You can just happen upon it and make something if you'd like."
Color Deal: In 2014, she worked with local artists to help craft the adult coloring book Free Period: A Patternful Coloring Book that's available on Amazon. "The idea of the book is coloring to get your creative juices flowing."
Urban Explorer: Her travel bucket list includes Iceland, Asia, Valparaiso, Chile, or a return to Berlin. "There are places that are weird combinations like a restaurant that also has Ping-Pong, plus a weird sauna. I could explore there forever."
