Most Interesting People 2011: Bella Sin

Why she's interesting ... Sin is part of the movement that's helping bring burlesque back — something she sees as an art, not just a dance. She manages at least 12 people in the Le Femme Mystique Burlesque troupe she started in 2004. Now, she thinks Cleveland is ripe for a burlesque house of its own and wants to help open one.

The key to burlesque ... "It's about performance and celebrating the female form." She says the hardest part is coming up with the number. She takes a song everyone loves to dance to and adds her own moves and costumes.

The joke's on us ... "Burlesque is about punch lines and little reveals." The punch line can be anything from removing clothes to reveal elaborate pasties or taking off gloves to unveil another pair of gloves.

Always remember ... The most important part is enthusiasm, says Sin, who makes all her own costumes. You have to look like you're having fun onstage. "I don't hold back. I will do everything and anything to get a laugh."

Onstage ... Sin and her troupe usually perform locally at Bounce Nightclub or The View. They have also traveled throughout the country, including stops in Denver, New York City, Minnesota and New Orleans.

Pay attention, Cleveland ... Sin wishes more people knew burlesque existed and that it's suitable for everyone — from girlfriends and boyfriends to grandmas. "It's not going to be sleazy. You can have dinner and watch a show."

House rules ... "If you think you don't have enough of it on, put more on." She adds that you can never have enough glitter or rhinestones.
