The perfect date: I think I’m more into the chemistry I have with the person; I could pretty much go anywhere. There’s this really cool little jazz bar that I found called Jazz 28 in Ohio City. Anywhere with live music I’m good with. Or checking out new restaurants.
Something most people don’t know about me: I’ve been a vegetarian for six years. It kind of started as a bet with someone. It’s a really silly story, but it was Dollar Dog Day at the Indians game, and it was a bet that I wasn’t going to eat a hot dog. Now it’s more for health reasons as well as animal cruelty.
My cell phone: It’s a really basic cell phone. I’m not into the iPhone or anything. My ring tone is normal. I lose a lot of cell phones, so I have to keep it simple.
Biggest turn-on: Eye contact because then you know they’re paying attention to you and confident. People who are more confident are more apt to look you in the eye when they’re talking to you.
Biggest turnoff: Those Bluetooth headsets that some people wear in their ears. I hate it.
I own too many: I don’t think I own too many anything. I’m pretty much in moderation. I just opened a business, so I have to be careful. I can’t be excessive with anything.
My favorite … place in Cleveland: Anywhere by the lake, like Huntington Beach in the morning. I did a beach yoga class there over the summer, and it was amazing. … sports team: I went to Ohio State, so I guess the Buckeyes. But it’s pretty much just because I went there. I’m not very into sports. … book: Anything by Sophie Kinsella. She writes really fun, easy reads. ... vacation destination: Napa Valley. I’ve been there, but I’d like to go back. … dessert: That’s an easy one: creme brulee. … blog: Any of those celebrity gossip blogs, like PerezHilton.com. I have a bad obsession with celebrity gossip.
Facebook: yes or no? Yes. Why not? Everybody’s on it, and you can see what everyone’s up to.
My usual hangout: I go out in Chagrin Falls a lot. The wine bar, Jekel’s in Chagrin, that’s one of my typical haunts. The store is right on that block, so I tend to stick around there.
In high school I was … a cheerleader. That always surprises people.
My passion: Right now it’s making this store successful. I have a business, so I have to put everything I have into that. It’s been open about 14 months, but it kind of consumes everything.
My best feature: My smile
My bad habit: I Google everything. If I meet new people, or if someone names a place.
My first kiss: I think I was in middle school waiting for the bus to pick us up after school. It was awkward, but I think they always are.
My guilty pleasure: I’m obsessed with US Weekly and all those really stupid magazines. Give me a stack of those and a glass of wine, and I’m set for the night.
How my ex would describe me: I don’t even know. You’d have to ask him.
Blonds or brunets: Brunet. I don’t know; I’m just not into blonds.
Going out or staying in: I like to go out.
Early, late or right on time: Right on time. I used to be early, but I’m so busy right now that I’m cutting everything close.
Dogs or cats: Dogs. I have a dog.
My longest relationship: About a year. I don’t have a very good track record.
Beer, wine or martinis: Red wine, for sure
Roses or chocolates: Dark chocolate
My No. 1 dating rule: Pay attention to detail, really listen to the other person, and pick up on the small details. I’m huge on being thoughtful.
My deal-breaker: Being overly arrogant. I’m not big fan of guys when they’re super conceited, which usually leads to them not listening to what I’m saying because they’re too worried about themselves.
I hate when a date orders … bottled water instead of tap water at a restaurant. It’s all the same unless you’re in Mexico.
Worst pickup line: I get this one all the time: “You look so familiar.” I think that’s awful. And I think it’s a pickup line; I don’t think I look familiar.
If I could marry anyone: I want to marry somebody who makes me smile every time I think about them. I don’t really have a particular thing in my mind.
On a first date you never … talk politics.
Best place to meet someone: I think when you’re not looking. Definitely not in a bar, anywhere but a bar.
Most unusual place I’ve met someone: I don’t really have any that are unusual.
My take on Cleveland’s single scene: I’m super busy, so it’s hard when I’m working two jobs, and I’m not really out in the scene. I think there are a lot of single people, but Cleveland’s a more bar-oriented scene, and I’m not really out in the bars where all the people my age are.
