BrewBoat CLE
The boat // Powered by cycling passengers, the 31-foot paddle-wheel boat looks more like a barge with 10 stationary bikes on it. All that pedaling is rewarded with beer or wine that passengers bring aboard. "It's a crazy hybrid bike-boat thing on the water where you can enjoy a couple beers and the summer in Cleveland," says founder Freddie Coffey.
The journey // Departing from the West Bank of the Flats, each boozy cruise ($35 per person, $429 for the whole boat) lasts about 1 hour and 45 minutes, and travels up and down the Cuyahoga River (and the inner harbor under good conditions), stopping periodically along the way for selfies. brewcle.com
Cleveland Metroparks Water Taxi
The boat // There's no app to download when it comes to this ride. The 26-foot, canopied boat cruises the Cuyahoga River between the new Flats East Bank and the West Bank. It's much heavier than similarly sized boats, which makes for a more comfortable jaunt. "When you put 19 people on the boat, you want that stability for people getting on and off," says captain Mike Bobincheck.
The journey // For $2 a day, Flats revelers can now easily ford the river. While the service cuts off at 7 p.m. Thursday and Sunday, and 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, the Metroparks is looking into extending the hours. clevelandmetroparks.com
