The perfect date: Going out to a beach, making a bonfire and cooking dinner. There’s so many things to do at the beach. My favorite beach is at Timberlake.
Something most people don’t know about me: I belong to a gourmet club, and I am a good cook. I’ve been working on a pan-seared, sesame-crusted tuna with a wasabi soy sauce.
My cell phone: I put it on vibrate because I’m always talking to people and interacting, and people have to wait their turn. It’s rude to interrupt when you’re engaged with something.
Biggest turn-on: When a woman can show her femininity in a genuine way with her hair, her scent, her way of dress or her personality.
Biggest turnoff: Crazy people, like women who try to change you or people who are [always] angry
I own too many: Neckties. I still wear them a lot, but I own too many. You can change your outfit by changing an accent like a necktie.
My favorite … place in Cleveland: Timberlake Beach. It’s very Cleveland: It’s quiet, it’s on Lake Erie, and you can tell you’re on Lake Erie versus Florida or the Greek Islands. … sports team: I’m an avid Cavs fan; I’ve got a minor addiction. I’m a big fan of the Burning River Roller Girls; they are so entertaining. And any of the CSU athletic teams who are the reigning McCafferty Trophy winners, which is the school with the most first-place finishers. … book: When All You’ve Ever Wanted Isn’t Enough by Harold Kushner. That happened to be the right book for where I was at that part of my life. … vacation destination: My cousin’s farm on the side of a mountain in Costa Rica. I’ve got several places I go every year, but that’s my favorite. It’s way at the top, and there’s a river that goes through the valley and rainforest, and you can see forever. … dessert: Turtle ice cream sundaes with caramel, chocolate and peanuts from East Coast Original Frozen Custard. They do a good job; anything you get there is good. … blog: I typically don’t follow any blogs.
Facebook: yes or no? I was taking a yoga class, and that’s how they gave out assignments. It was one of those things where you do a 40-day cleanse, and they helped you with your diet. And my 85-year-old aunt asked me if she could store some sheep at my house the other day [through Farmville]. I do keep track of relatives all over the country.
My usual hangout: I’m either at the downtown YMCA’s gym or on my mat at Cleveland Yoga. And Brother’s Lounge is my favorite bar; they have a wide variety of local bands and good food.
In high school I was … mischievous. Enough said. And maybe I still am.
My passion: I’m active. I love to skate, ski, bicycle; I’m always doing something physical.
My best feature: I’d like to say it’s a secret.
My bad habit: If there’s something I do to bug somebody, that is my bad habit.
My first kiss: I don’t kiss and tell.
My guilty pleasure: It’s probably watching sports. I’m pretty good at tracking and DVRing things if I’m not home.
How my ex would describe me: Why don’t we just say I’m memorable.
Blondes or brunettes: Yes.
Going out or staying in: Both. There’s times when you got to get out and times when you want to stay in.
Early, late or right on time: I’m on time.
Dogs or cats: I’ve had both. They’re all good.
My longest relationship: I’d say about eight years.
Beer, wine or martinis: Pinot noir is my favorite wine. I do like Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald porter, and I like my martinis chocolate, shaken, not stirred.
Roses or chocolates: Neither. I feel like somebody’s trying to buy my love, or I’m trying to buy someone else’s love with that. I don’t do that.
My No. 1 dating rule: Never, never give up your family, friends or passions for a date.
My deal-breaker: A bad kisser. It’s something where you can tell a good kisser when you meet one.
I hate when a date orders … me around.
Worst pickup line: I’m going to make one up. How about, “Mr. Clooney, can I have your autograph?”
If I could marry anyone: This is the person I’ve been looking for. I don’t know who it is, but it’d be someone with similar values, a few common interests but opposite personality traits. That way we could fill in for each other and make a committed strong team.
On a first date I never … do karaoke. It would leave a lot to be desired.
Best place to meet someone: A university campus. I think you’re going to run into somebody who is intelligent and are trying to better themselves.
Most unusual place I’ve met someone: The all-nude Turkish bath on the Island of Rhodes in Greece. I didn’t know it was nude — or coed. I guess I’ll have to learn Greek for my next trip.
My take on Cleveland’s single scene: I think it’s what you make of it. I think you can have as good an experience in Cleveland as anywhere else.
