The Cleveland Browns lost an embarrassing 21-15 home game to the New York Giants. Radio host and Cleveland Magazine contributor Dennis Manoloff breaks down the "unmitgated disaster."
Here are our three takeaways from the Sept. 22 matchup:
Takeaway One: Embarrassing performance at home.
There is truly no excuse for losing to a mediocre Giants team led by quarterback Daniel Jones. "I know professional players aren't easily embarrassed because they cast ginormous
paychecks," says Manoloff, "but that was an unmitigated disaster."
Takeaway Two: Offensive struggles persist.
Despite highly touted changes to the offensive personnel, the Browns' offense remains uninspired and uncreative. "I get it the offensive line beat up. I don't care," says Manoloff. "Slop.
That's what it is. That's what this offense is. It's slop, and they got away with it last week against Jacksonville. They didn't get away with it this week."
Takeaway Three: Amari Cooper shines amid chaos.
The only positive note to take from a disappointing showing is wide receiver Amari Cooper's standout performance. "It was good to see Coop making plays, balling out
there after two ineffective weeks," says Manoloff. "But that's just such a small silver lining, unfortunately, because of the debacle on the lakefront."
