How do you convince politicians to spend millions of dollars on parks when there isn’t enough money for police? You don’t; Zoller does. Armed with watercolor renderings almost too big for her to carry and folders full of statistics, Zoller persuades everyone from mayors to foundation heads that the more money you spend on parks, the less you’ll need to spend on police. Kids who are at a summer soccer camp or watching a movie under the stars aren’t getting into trouble. Parks breed community. Parks breed peace. On the agenda this year: a $3.5 million overhaul of Perk Park on East 12th Street and planning for a revamped University Circle.
