Lake View Cemetery gets all the attention, but nearly 8,000 people were buried in Erie Street Cemetery, one of Cleveland’s most underappreciated and historic resting places. That includes Native American chiefs Joc-O-Sot and Thunderwater, Cleveland’s first permanent white settlers Lorenzo and Rebecca Carter and 168 veterans of early conflicts such as the American Revolution and Spanish-American War.
