Everyone knows a day at the ballpark is about more than just the action on the field.
The 2023 MLB season kicked off with a bang yesterday, as the Cleveland Guardians announced the latest updates to partner activations, food and beverage options, apparel, and ticket offerings at the annual What’s New at Progressive Field event.
However, Curtis Danburg, vice president of communications and community impact, made it clear there are many more surprises to come as the season goes on.
“There are still plenty of new programs, offers, merchandise, partnerships, and food items this season on the way as we unveil what's new at the progressive field today,” he says.
So, what can fans expect with baseball season beginning? Here are a few new features to see when the team kicks off home games on April 7 against the Seattle Mariners.
New Food
Executive chef Vishwatej Nath introduces Asian-inspired cuisine with classic American game day food. The majority of the new additions sport titles that mimic their contents, however The Wild Thing deserves a quick breakdown. It’s a vegan field roast dog topped with house-made veggie chili and Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.

New Cashless Vendors
As we enter into an increasingly technological age, fans can get excited for the further adoption of cashless stands and in-seat vendors. All cashless concessions will display signs near their menus indicating their electronic, or card only status, while vendors will differentiate themselves by shirt color: Cashless will wear yellow, and cash-available will wear green. Buttons will be worn to further help indication.
“The technology follows you, and boom, within a minute you have your cold beer, and you’re going back to your seat,” says Danburg.
