Nature has long been a source of inspiration for artists. The same is true for Bianca Breed, who creates jewelry and homewares influenced by nature. Her moon phases earrings ($55) are handmade using an eco-friendly resin with unique natural materials from her collection of pressed plants, flowers and found insects.
Using sustainable practices and ethical sourcing are important to Breed. “I wanted to make as little of an impact as I could in a wasteful sense,” she says. Since every piece is one-of-a-kind, she can’t recreate individual looks, but she does offer specific designs — such as the moon phase collection — every time she restocks her website. These statement earrings feature three dangling shapes — a crescent, half-moon and full moon — meant to call to mind nature in the phases of the moon.
“I love the moon phase design,” she says. “I bring those back every month in different designs. It will just feature different flowers.” She restocks her jewelry on her website at least once a month, and her designs are extremely popular — she can sell out of as many as 65 pairs of earrings in just five to 10 minutes.
“A lot of my customers set their alarms,” Breed says. “I’m still processing how that happens every time, but the community online and in Cleveland has just really supported me.” biancabreed.com
