It’s rare to find a piece of clothing that works for a night on the town and for a casual day out. But the denim tie waist maxi skirt ($149.99) by DruChristine Fabrics & Design is exactly that.
Owner and fashion designer Dru Thompson began making this piece around eight years ago. The long skirt with the high tie-waist quickly became a bestseller, largely due to its versatility and comfort.
Pair it with a T-shirt and jean jacket or dress it up with a blazer for work. And, of course, the skirt also has a secret weapon — side pockets.
Beyond that, it’s simply a flattering look for many different body types.
“The tie-waist helps with people’s waistline,” Thompson says. “Any size can wear this skirt. Any height.”
Besides denim, the skirt is available in a variety of colors and prints. When the Cleveland Cavaliers won the NBA Championship, she even offered a wine-and-gold team fabric.
“We do them in camouflage and African print,” she says. “We started doing them in formal wear for the bride.”
Each skirt takes around three hours to sew.
“I could probably make them in my sleep. That’s how many I make,” she says. druchristine-fabrics-and-design.square.site
