The coasts may be home to style havens, but Fashion Week Cleveland has been strutting its stuff for 12 years. Founder Donald Shingler gives us a rundown on the May 1-7 event.
Q. What's new this year?
A. We're going to have educational programs about the fashions of Millionaires' Row at the turn of the century as well as about Cleveland's garment district in the 1950s and '60s.
Q. What can we expect from the runway show?
A. There will be 12 designers. The runway will be the entire city block inside the Arcade. Two Cleveland designers will be featured, Magnolia and Lace and [milliner] Marta Glazen.
Q: What is Retail's Night Out?
A. We're going to have about 20-plus designers and boutiques in the hopes that some of them will set up permanent shops downtown. They'll sell clothing, jewelry and knitwear.
