Summer might be full of fun in the sun, but that doesn’t always bode well for the health of your hair. Muhga Eltigani, owner and founder of NaturAll Club, wants to help keep your locks soft and shiny. Here are three foolproof tips to give your hair a little boost.
Be wary of your ingredients.
If you can’t pronounce most of the active ingredients of a product, it’s most likely bad for your hair. “There are toxic ingredients like formaldehyde, isopropyl alcohol, parabens and more that make it into hair products,” Eltigani says. “These things cause a lot of problems like skin irritation, dry hair, unbalanced oil levels or even hair loss.” Try NaturAll Club’s Fresh Avocado Deep Conditioner ($9.50), which boasts avocados, shea butter, tea tree oils and coconut oil as its main ingredients.
Get regular trims.
Trims don’t make your hair grow faster, but they might save you a few inches in the long run. “Once an end is split, there’s no repairing it,” Eltigani says. “If you don’t cut it, that split end can actually travel up the hair strand and make a bigger split end, which means cutting more inches off.”
Skip a wash or two.
The biggest hair myth might be that you need to shampoo every day to keep a clean scalp. “You’re stripping off those natural oils from your hair every day and that can cause your hair to be overly dry or oily,” Eltigani says. “Even just going to washing every other day can make a difference.” Try using NaturAll Club’s Jamaican Black Castor Oil Growth Serum ($9), infused with vitamin E oil, on your off days to promote growth and reduce inflammation.
