With a lemon fudge appearance, Kali’s Creations’ owner Khalilah Williams is not exaggerating when she calls her bestselling lemon poppy seed bar soap ($6) food for your skin.
“It’s eye-popping and the smell is really invigorating,” Williams says. “People immediately pick it up and smell it and you can see their eyes light up.”
Williams has been making soap out of her Cleveland home since 2013 after becoming inspired to create plant-based alternatives to commercial products. In 2019, Williams moved to soapmaking full time as owner and creator of Kali’s Creations.
Due to its creamy consistency, the soap produces a lush, bubbly lather great for shaving as well as exfoliation. Poppy seeds are high in linolenic acid, which relieves inflammation, while the lemon essential oil provides an extra antibacterial boost.
“The lemon poppy seed is really good because it has nourishing ingredients with the vitamin E and vitamin C, so if there is any scarring or if there is any injury to your skin, it helps to replenish and repair your skin as well,” Williams says. “Each ingredient has so many benefits. When you add them together, it’s a powerhouse.” kaliscreations.com
