If you’re like us, achieving perfectly coiffed hair every day is a struggle. Curly-haired Alli Webb was no exception, so she took the blow dryer into her own hands and founded Drybar, a salon that focuses solely on blowouts. With 133 locations in the United States and Canada, including a new spot at Legacy Village, stylists twirl, curl or straighten hair into sleek and bouncy looks. “We say that we don’t sell blowouts — we sell happiness and confidence,” says Webb. Here are three things to know about the salon.
The Atmosphere
Each Drybar salon boasts a chandelier made of yellow hair dryers, a bar where clients can hang out and a big reveal mirror where guests can admire the final look. It’s an energetic and lively space where music hums over the sounds of hair dryers and chick flicks such as Sex and the City and The Devil Wears Prada playing on TV. “We have prided ourselves on building this oasis for women to go to feel better about themselves,” Webb says.
The Blowouts
Webb started the business wanting to excel at one thing: the blowout. Each of the 10 options are named after cocktails to fit the salon’s bar theme. The Mai Tai ($45) creates a messy, beachy look with loose curls. “They’re all kind of achieved differently and our stylists interpret them differently and have their own spin on it,” she says. Add a braid ($10 per braid) to accent any blowout look.
The Experience
It’s a busy world out there, and Webb wants to do what she can to help women not only feel more confident, but also take a moment out of their days to chill. Scalp massages are available for an extra $10. Plus, booking an appointment is super-easy with a mobile app. “It’s a very convenient, quick pick-me-up that women can get,” she says.
